projects

This section lists some of my personal and side projects which I have worked on throughout the years.

Cello

Cello is a GSM cell locator and tracking tool for the Apple iPhone 2G that works by gathering data from nearby cell towers to determine location information. Cello began as a hobby project to understand the Apple iPhone platform.

Cello Cellsite

A Google Maps mashup incoporating cell phone tower locations for Australia and Czech Republic.

A Flexible, Low-cost 1kW Inverter System for Small and Distributed Generation

Australia's Winning Entry for the IEEE International Future Energy Challenge 2005.

The aim of the IEEE International Future Energy Challenge 2005 was to internationally promote innovation in the field of distributed electricity generation systems, with a focus on robust, efficient and cost effective commercial solutions.

As the winning team, we have demonstrated that Australia is able to develop leading edge technologies that can compete at an international level.

A 500W High-Frequency Converter System for Acoustic Seperation of Particles.

A H-bridge based converter system that operates from 240V 50Hz AC and produces high-frequency square waves to drive transducers.

The prototype was designed to test the idea that sound waves could be used to extract solid particles from flowing water. This concept can be applied to treating waste water, or in developing nations as the first step towards water filtration. The prototype showed promising results under laboratory conditions.

The converter is maintained under full digital control by a Texas Instruments TMS320F2810 DSP.
